What is a Dental Appliance?

Maintaining good oral health is more than just good oral hygiene. For those of us who play sports, clench or grind our teeth, or snore, dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral structures, and our overall health.

Dental appliances offered at Wembley Dental Clinic – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – are used to help improve and protect the health of your oral cavity.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can disrupt your sleep and negatively impact your health and wellbeing.

For patients who snore, their relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to restrict, creating the sound of snoring as oxygen is forced past. For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway, forcing the brain to wake them up in order to breathe properly.

At Wembley Dental Clinic, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. These appliances help to improve your flow of breath and prevent you from waking up throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

Our dentists offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you get hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard provides a cushioning barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.

Night Guards

If you grind your teeth while sleeping, a mouth guard can help protect your teeth from damage. If you clench your jaw, a mouth guard can also help to prevent you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
