At Wembley Dental Clinic in Parksville, our dentists offer dental sedation options to help patients feel more comfortable during long procedures, and to calm anxious patients.
What is Dental Sedation?
Dental sedation refers to a variety of techniques used to make patients more relaxed and comfortable during their dental procedures. Our dentists can help determine whether a dental sedation option is right for you.
At Wembley Dental Clinic, we do everything we can to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental appointments. Our goal is provide each of our patients with a positive dental experience. In addition to offering sedation options, we will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance as needed.
Oral sedatives can be prescribed by your dentist in pill or liquid form. Sedation medication is taken orally in advance of a dental appointment. It leaves you awake for the procedure but is designed to produce a calming effect to help you stay relaxed throughout your appointment.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is a medication that is inhaled through the nose and mouth. It is designed to calm patients even though they remain awake and are able to communicate. It typically helps to lower anxiety, reduce gag reflex, increase the pain threshold, and make time seem to pass more quickly.
